Cora Alliance beliefs and values
Primary tenet
Animals under the care of humans are not possessions. They are individuals with rights. We humans are not their owners, we can act as their Kahu (as described by Hawaiian natives). Kahu, the honored keeper, guardian, or caretaker of people including non-human people, places and things.
Just as a human child is not the property of their parent, they are the responsibility of the parent. Each child has rights as a citizen of earth, just as animals are citizens of earth and this dimension of physicality that we experience, these individuals cannot be owned.
“Ownership” the construct as it has become to exist in todays “advanced society” is a viral concept that deludes those who are infected, to think in a certain way, to believe in a scale of authority of self-importance and unimportance, this is the foundation of domination, and a distraction from the truth and true importance of sense of self existence and what can experience it.
Influence with respect and honesty, domestication without domination
When organisms from a different class or kingdom in the natural world alter each other’s reproductive future, do they become one or the others “possession”? When we influence a plant or animal in this world, choose their reproductive partner to shape the species’ future, the offspring do not become our possession, our influence is not creation, and the parent organisms are individuals not tools. At Cora Alliance we believe our influence on selective breeding binds the offspring to our existence and their welfare is our responsibility from birth to death.
Cora Alliance owns no birds or animals; we have avian allies and family members. Each living animal offspring that is influenced by Cora Alliance is a dependent, we are their guardians and keepers. These non-human people are individuals that are members of our culture and society. They are the Cora family, and we are their Kahu.
For this reason, no animal can be bought or sold. The responsibility and duties of guardianship can be shared but never transferred 100% to a single Cora-Kahu. The non-human people of the alliance can be employed, educated, conditioned, and negotiated with. Detainment of Cora family members is only used to protect the balance of the surrounding natural world and for the welfare of the non-human people of the alliance.
