Call a local wildlife rehabber. Spring is a busy season for bird rehabbers, they rely on donations (not government funding) and are faced with difficult decisions every day. Trust that they are doing their best. We all share the burden of minimizing our impact on nature.
Call a local wildlife rehabber. If the bird is not in immediate danger watch from a distance, the farther away the better. Immediate danger- In the street, traffic or heat, in the hot sun. In water, near drowning or cold. Predator danger, domestic cat or dog has bird or is approaching it.
Call a local wildlife rehabber. Cover bird with a cardboard box or paper bag. If bird is in immediate danger, place it in cardboard box or paper bag and move to safe place out of direct sunlight. Silence & darkness is sometimes all that is needed. Monitor for an hour then slowly open to see if bird has "come to" If so, leave open and back away.
